Electricity board workers and engineers also protested against the Bill brought in the Lok Sabha by the Central Government for privatisation of power companies. The protesters said the Bill sought to separate electricity supply and network on the lines of mobile network.

HPSEBL employee union secretary HL Verma said the law was being brought by the government for privatising the electricity boards. The National Coordination Committee of Electricity Engineers and Employees warned that if the Bill was not withdrawn, they would intensify the stir.
