Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) here will use technology to promote tourism while empowering the youth in inaccessible regions of the state. This was stated by SP Bansal, Vice-Chairman, after a meeting of the board of governors here today. He said the board had given approval for opening an off-campus for tribal areas of the state to harness the tourism potential using best technologies and innovations.

He said the university had been successful in the establishing an ERP system, e-library, e-data centre. He said despite the pandemic, the HPTU had completed the syllabus through the e-learning system. He said the HPTU was the first university to announce the result of the B.Tech. final session.

He said the board had approved the appointment of officers, including Assistant Coordinator, Assistant Public Relations Officer, Additional Controller of Examinations, and recommendations of the 25th meeting of the Academic Council. He said it had approved 10 per cent reservation for the weaker sections of the society. It also approved a skill development centre and an alumni association in every college. Narendra Thakur, MLA; Prabodh Saxena, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance; KK Pant, Principal Secretary, Technical Education; Shubhakaran G, Director, Technical Education; were among those present in the meeting.
