The programme was to be held at the university auditorium under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof Mahavir Singh, with the Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HIMTU) and the Pro-Vice Chancellor of HPU also scheduled to attend.

According to an official circular issued by the university on Thursday, the decision has been taken keeping in mind the adverse weather conditions and to ensure the safety of students, faculty and administrative staff.

Earlier on Wednesday, HPU had announced the closure of all its departments and centres till September 6, in line with the state government’s directive to keep all educational institutions — government and private — shut till September 7. During this period, the university has shifted classes to online mode.
