The Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) has constituted a Need Assessment Board to conduct an annual assessment of the specific needs of persons with disability.

The board has been constituted in light of accessibility guidelines and standards for higher education institutions and universities by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in accordance with the Right of Persons with Disability (RPWD) Act, 2016.

An official notification regarding this has been issued by the university.

The board will be headed by Dean (Students Welfare) Mamta Mokta as the chairperson. Nine people will be appointed as committee members.

Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, Associate Professor Abhay Jain will be the external member of the committee, and Associate Professor (Department of English, Himachal Pradesh University) Dr Deepali Dhaul will serve as the member convener.
