HPU hikes faculty house rates

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) has revised the rates of essential commodities and accommodation facilities at its Faculty House following recommendations from the Faculty House Development Committee.

According to the official notification, the breakfast rate in the mess has been doubled from Rs 40 to Rs 80. Lunch and dinner charges have been revised to Rs 100 for normal meals, Rs 150 for special and Rs 300 for non-vegetarian food. The cost of beverages has also been increased: a cup of tea will now cost Rs 10 (up from Rs 8), coffee Rs 25 (up from Rs 15) and 250 ml of milk Rs 30 (up from Rs 12).

Accommodation rates have also seen a substantial hike. University invitees, officials from HPU’s Dharamshala Regional Centre, and principals of government or grant-in-aid colleges will now pay Rs 300 per room per day, up from Rs 100. For parents, spouses, and relatives of university employees, as well as retired staff, the rate is now Rs 600 (earlier Rs 400). Guests of university employees will be charged Rs 1,000 per day, up from Rs 700, while university employees themselves will pay Rs 500 per day for a stay not exceeding three days.

The Faculty House community hall and lawns will now cost Rs 2,000 per day for university employees.
