HPU hosts workshop to foster research quality

Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsAiming to enhance research quality, scientific writing skills and research ethics among teachers, scholars and students, the Department of Biosciences, Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla, organised a one-day workshop on “Quality Research Paper Writing and Research Proposal Preparation” under the PM-USHA MERU scheme.
The inaugural session was presided over by Prof Mahavir Singh, Vice-Chancellor of HPU, who urged young faculty and students to actively engage in research activities and academic discussions. Emphasising focus and discipline, he advised students to devote their attention to one goal at a time for effective results. Prof Singh also underlined the importance of ethics and quality in academic writing, encouraging participants to contribute meaningful and high-standard research work.
Prof DR Thakur, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, and Dr RK Negi, Chairperson, Department of Biosciences, also addressed the gathering.
In the technical sessions, Prof Sushil Kumar Kansal (FRSC, FIE) from Dr SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET), Panjab University, Chandigarh, spoke on “How to Prepare Quality Research Papers.” In the following session, Prof Daisy Rani Batish, Department of Botany, PU, delivered a lecture on “Successful Research Grant Proposal Writing.”
The valedictory session was chaired by Prof Joginder Singh Dhiman, Dean, Planning and Teacher Matters, HPU, who commended the department for organising a practical and impactful workshop.
