HPU inter-college women’s volleyball tournament opens in Palampur

The three-day event will conclude on November 21.
MLA Ashish Butail inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest. Congratulating the college for hosting a major women’s sports event, he praised both the institution and Himachal Pradesh University for strengthening the culture of competitive sports in the state. Highlighting how sports nurture discipline, confidence and teamwork, he wished all teams an inspiring and memorable tournament.
He also reiterated the state government’s strong anti-drug campaign, noting that active engagement in sports remains one of the most effective shields against substance abuse. As a gesture of encouragement, he announced Rs 20,000 for students participating in cultural activities.
Principal Pankaj Sood welcomed the chief guest, university observer, officials, contingent in-charges, players and dignitaries, expressing pride in hosting the HPU-level event. He urged participants to uphold fairness and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
