The camp is being organised by the Centre for Women’s Studies and Development, HPU, with financial support from Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) 2.0 under its Equity Initiative. Technical support for the programme is being provided by the Traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate-Do Federation of Himachal Pradesh, led by Sensai Surinder Sharma and Senpai Kapil Dev.

Inaugurating the camp, Registrar Gyan Sagar Negi emphasised the importance of such initiatives in empowering young women.

“Self-defence training plays a vital role in making girl students self-reliant and confident. The university will continue to promote such programmes that contribute to the overall development and empowerment of students,” he said.

Prof Aparna Negi, Director of the Centre for Women’s Studies and Development, said self-defence education has become essential in today’s social context. “This training helps strengthen students mentally, physically and emotionally,” she remarked.
