Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Prof Mahavir Singh, released a book titled “Environmental history and challenges of sustainable development: A historical perspective” at the Regional Centre, Dharamsala. The book is a compilation of 39 research papers presented during a two-day national seminar on environmental history held on March 7–8 by the Department of History.

Dr Raj Kumar, editor of the book, described it as a modest effort to publish scholarly work discussed during the seminar. He highlighted the relevance of historical insights in understanding environmental issues and promoting sustainable development.

Congratulating the editorial team, Prof Singh extended best wishes to the Department of History.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
