The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has received 24 new Volvo buses, marking a significant upgrade to its fleet. The HRTC already has a fleet of 74 Volvo buses, ferrying passengers within and outside the state. “It will take a couple of days to complete the registration and inspection process of the buses. The new buses will be pressed into service in the first week of July,” said Nipun Jindal, Managing Director, HRTC. These buses will be used on the routes both within and outside the state.

The HRTC has an overall fleet of around 3,300 buses. Efforts are being made to replace a significant chunk of the fleet with electric buses as part of the plan to make the state a Green Energy State by 2027.
