HRTC sees surge in cashless transactions
Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has recorded a remarkable increase in cashless transactions since introducing the service in March 2024. From an average of 40 daily cashless transactions at launch, the figure has surged to 2,467 in January 2025.
The National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) has also seen impressive growth. Introduced in September 2024, daily NCMC transactions have risen from 75 in October to 806 this month.
An HRTC official highlighted that cashless payment options, including credit/debit cards, UPI, and NCMC cards, were introduced to enhance passenger convenience and reduce reliance on cash. The initiative also aims to make ticketing seamless and secure.
The official added that the NCMC card, usable across HRTC buses, metros, and other public transport systems in India, can be easily obtained at HRTC booking counters. “HRTC encourages passengers to embrace the cashless system for a hassle-free travel experience,” the official stated.
