HUDCO to provide X-ray machine to Chamba hospital

A review meeting to assess the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives undertaken by Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) in Chamba district was held at the district headquarters on Thursday.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, with the participation of officials from the health, education, and other departments, along with representatives from HUDCO’s regional office (Chandigarh).

During the meeting, Repaswal said HUDCO was providing a portable handheld X-ray machine worth Rs 23.50 lakh to the regional hospital in Chamba under its CSR programme for the financial year 2023-24.

The corporation will also allocate the remaining Rs 21 lakh from its budget to procure other medical equipment for the Health Department based on its needs.

The Deputy Commissioner directed officials from health and education departments to promptly submit their priority requirements to HUDCO for further consideration.

HUDCO Regional Head Sanjay Bhargava said the portable handheld X-ray machine would be officially handed over to the Health Department on December 6, in a ceremony led by HUDCO Executive Director Rajeev Sharma.

HUDCO has approved a grant of approximately Rs 1 crore for Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba, which includes Rs 40 lakh for hostel furniture and wheelchairs, Bhargava added, stating that these items would be delivered shortly.

For the financial year 2024-25, HUDCO plans to provide furniture and open gym equipment worth Rs 15 lakh to schools in Chamba, based on recommendations from the Deputy Commissioner, he said.
