Bhutti ward zila parishad member Subhash Kainthla, at the Shimla Zila Parishad meeting here today, demanded the inclusion of the Narkanda block panchayats in the affected areas of the Luhri hydropower project to ensure that the panchayats were compensated for the loss they had been suffering due to the construction of the project.
Anil Kalta, the member from Kalbog Ward, raised questions over the shortage of staff at the SDM office in Kotkhai. He also demanded that the vacant posts of paramedical staff at Community Health Centre, Kotkhai, be filled at the earliest.
Neema Justa, another member, demanded that the picturesque places in Chopal area be developed for tourism in a bid to generate employment for the youth of the area.
Trilok Bhaluni raised the issue of shortage of staff in the Education Department and Animal Husbandry Department in the Rampur assembly constituency. He requested the Himachal Road Transport Corporation to run regular bus services on the link routes for the convenience of rural residents.
Earlier, Shimla DC Anupam Kashyap spoke to all zila parishad members and assured them of full cooperation by the district administration in developmental works.
Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Gandhi urged zila parishad members to cooperate with the police administration in eradicating the problem of drug abuse.
