A 16-week training programme on “Protected cultivation and value addition of vegetables and horticultural crops” concluded at Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSKHPKV), Palampur, with a valedictory ceremony organised by the Directorate of Extension Education.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Naveen Kumar, who was the chief guest, congratulated the 15 Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and equivalent ranks from the Indian Air Force for their enthusiastic participation. He lauded their dedication to learning modern agricultural techniques and encouraged them to explore self-employment opportunities post-retirement. Prof Kumar also commended the university’s ongoing commitment to national service by training defence personnel in agri-entrepreneurship. He distributed certificates to the participants, marking their successful course completion.

Guest of honour Lt Col Gurpreet Singh Jaswal thanked the university for this meaningful capacity-building effort. He encouraged the trainees to apply their knowledge in entrepreneurial ventures related to agriculture and horticulture.

Sponsored by the Directorate General Resettlement, New Delhi, the training focused on off-season vegetable production, protected cultivation, integrated pest and disease management.
