Both jewellers had bought the stolen idols, said ASP Praveer Thakur. They were presented before a local court, which remanded them to four-day police custody.

Earlier, four persons were arrested in the case and a few idols were recovered from them. The value of the idols is stated to be Rs 4.5 lakh.

The theft came to notice when priest Ganga Ram opened the doors of the temple and found that the idols were missing. — TNS
