Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsLeader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur today said that people are so disenchanted with the Congress regime that the BJP would be voted to power with a thumping majority if elections are held now.
He was speaking at a meeting of BJP district Mahasu held at Theog, near here, today. “Rather than fulfilling the 10 guarantees made to the people at the time of 2022 Assembly elections, the Congress government has only focused on imposing taxes on the people since it assumed power,” he said.
Thakur said first, the state government enhanced the minimum fare in Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation (HRTC) buses to Rs 10. “Now, Rs 10 will be charged for making the slip in hospitals. The Health Minister is giving a lame excuse that this has been done so that people keep the prescription slip carefully,” he said. Thakur said patients are suffering as they have to wait for months for getting an MRI, CT scan and ultrasound done. “It would be much better if these tests are done on time in hospitals rather than talk of providing robotic surgery,” he said.
The former CM said it appears that the CM feels happy by withdrawing welfare schemes, meant for the uplift of weaker and vulnerable sections. “The Congress won the Assembly elections by promising the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme and now, there is talk of switching to Unified Pension Scheme,” he said. Chopal MLA and party spokesperson Balbir Verma, Chetan Bragta, candidates Ajay Shyam, Shashi Bala, Kaul Negi, state president of Scheduled Caste Front Rakesh Dogra and 13 divisional presidents were present at the meeting.
