Shimla, March 8

Mystery shrouds the death of a senior resident of the IGMC, Dr Aditya Ahlawat, whose body was found in his private room here yesterday under mysterious circumstances. Though the police suspect no foul play, the possibility of suicide cannot be ruled out.

The police today handed over his body to his family members after the postmortem was conducted.

According to the SP Shimla, Ompati Jamwal, Dr Aditya, a senior resident, was working in the department of orthopaedic, IGMC. He was found dead in his room after the police broke open the door after receiving information from the house owner.

The police recovered a used syringe, an anaesthetic injection and a mobile phone in which he was making a video call from his room. However, no suicide note was found the spot.

Jamwal said Dr Aditya attended his duty on Thursday and left the hospital at around 11.30 pm. He said investigation was on and the post mortem report was awaited to ascertain the real cause his death. The possibility of suicide cannot be ruled out, he added.
