IIT Mandi celebrates 12th Convocation
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mandi, marked a significant milestone with its 12th convocation, conferring a total of 636 degrees across various disciplines. The graduating class comprised 297 undergraduate students, 284 postgraduates, and 55 PhD candidates, with a notable increase in female graduates, rising from 23.36 per cent in 2023 to 27.20 per cent this year.
The ceremony featured distinguished guests, including Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Electronics Limited, who delivered the convocation address. He commended IIT Mandi for establishing itself as a leader in professional education, encouraging graduates to contribute to national and global development.
In recognition of academic excellence, Shashwat Gupta received the President of India Gold Medal for the highest CGPA among undergraduates, while Jain Hiya Sudhir and Devanshu Sajwan were also honoured for outstanding performances.
The Director of IIT Mandi, Prof Laxmidhar Behera, emphasised the importance of the milestone and announced the inauguration of the Centre for Climate Change and Disaster Resilience (C3DAR), aimed at fostering innovative research and solutions for sustainability.
