IMD issues heavy rain alert for Mandi

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shimla, has issued a weather alert for Mandi district, forecasting heavy rainfall, strong winds, and lightning from June 23 to June 26. According to the IMD bulletin, a yellow alert has been declared for June 23, 24, and 25, while an orange alert is in place for June 23 and 26, indicating the likelihood of severe weather events.

In view of the forecast, Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan has appealed to local residents, tourists, and travellers to remain cautious. People have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during this period, particularly to upper mountainous regions, riverbanks, landslide-prone zones, and high-altitude areas.

The DC warned that continuous rainfall combined with strong winds could trigger landslides, road blockages, uprooting of trees, and power outages. Citizens are urged to stay updated via official weather bulletins and follow all advisories issued by the district administration and IMD.

All departments concerned have been placed on high alert and instructed to remain fully prepared with necessary equipment and resources for prompt relief and rescue operations. Emphasis has been placed on ensuring a swift response to any emergency that may arise during this period.
