The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Kangra, has arrested Kapil Dev on graft charge. Dev was posted as patwari in the Ambari circle of Nagrota Bagwan tehsil. The Vigilance Bureau said the patwari was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from complainant Manoj Kumar, a resident of Nagrota Bagwan. The patwari was allegedly seeking bribe for issuing an agriculturist certificate to the complainant. A case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against him.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
