Income tax staff raid Baddi pharmaceutical unit

A team of income tax officials raided a pharmaceutical unit in the Jharmajri area of Baddi today. The officials initiated the search operations at the unit around 6 am.

The team sought the help of local police which was deputed outside the unit after income tax officials entered it. All work was halted as the officials examined various documents pertaining to the unit’s operations and no shift could operate due to the day-long raid.

The raid, which began in the morning, continued for several hours and the staff which was present inside was not permitted to leave.

The unit is operational since 2010 and it manufacturers various pharmaceutical formulation. It is a WHO good manufacturing practises certified unit.

Income tax raids have become a routine practice in the pharmaceutical units operating in the state. Firms in Kala Amb and Paonta Sahib have earlier been raided by the department.
