Infant’s body found dumped in Chamba

In a deeply disturbing incident that has shaken the local community, the body of a newborn baby girl was found abandoned near a canal in the Sangera area of Chamba district. The discovery was made on Monday evening when a passerby noticed the infant’s body lying in the bushes beside a project canal located between Sangera and Baroh, in Gram Panchayat Playur.

Upon spotting the body, the individual immediately informed the village Pradhan, who promptly informed the police. The police took the body into custody, and began an investigation. The infant’s body was taken to the Chamba Medical College, where a post-mortem examination was conducted to determine the cause and time of death.

In a bid to identify the person responsible, the police have launched a probe into the case. As part of the investigation, the Health Department is coordinating with ASHA workers to gather information about all registered pregnant women in the area. These women are being contacted and assessed as part of the inquiry.

Chamba SP Abhishek Yadav said a thorough investigation was underway.
