Jagat Singh Negi, Minister of Revenue, Horticulture, Tribal Development and Public Grievances Redressal, attended a district-level Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) conference organised for Border Roads Organisation (BRO) workers in Nako Panchayat, Kinnaur.

As chief guest, Negi emphasised the state government’s dedication to labour welfare, highlighting inclusive schemes aimed at supporting workers and providing a social security shield through the State Labour Welfare Board.

Negi assured BRO workers of the government’s appreciation for their role in building connectivity in tribal regions and committed to advancing their rights, including submitting proposals to the Central Government and advocating for them in the Supreme Court. Additionally, he noted welfare schemes specifically benefiting women workers, such as financial aid for accidents, disabilities and maternity needs.

State INTUC vice-president Bihari Lal Sayogi welcomed Negi and presented an overview of challenges faced by workers in border areas. The event also saw the presence of District Council Member Hitesh Negi, Pooh Block Congress president Prem Singh Negi, INTUC state secretary Maan Singh Negi and other Congress representatives.
