DAV Public School, Palampur, on Saturday organised an inter-school science exhibition competition to mark the 49th birth anniversary of Kargil hero Captain Saurabh Kalia — an alumnus of the school.

Fifty students of 22 schools from Kangra and Hamirpur participated in the event. Palampur CSIR (IHBT) Director Dr Sudesh Kumar Yadav, as the chief guest at the event, inaugurated the competition.

Sukhdev Bhardwaj, chairman, Ajanta Chemical Industries, India, was the special guest at the event.

The competition was judged by Dr Aparna, Dr Vipin Halan, and Dr SK Vats, while principal Dr VK Yadav welcomed the guests.

The first position was secured by Shivansh Sharma and Devansh Sharma of DAV Public School, Hamirpur, while Swarit Awasthi and Agrim Pathania of Cambridge International School, Palampur, stood second.

The third position was secured by Raj Sharma and Vansh Chandel of DAV Public School, Dharamsala, while the consolation prizes were given to Vyomesh Kalia and Harshit Awasthi of DAV Public School, Palampur, and Shanaya Eyra Kacker and Prisha Verma of Mother’s Touch School, Palampur.

Capt Saurabh Kalia’s entire family — including his parents and his brother — were present at the event.
