Inspector Chandramohan of the 17th Battalion, ITBP, was swept away by a sudden surge in water flow of Kargyupa stream while on patrol in the Kaza sub-division of Lahaul and Spiti district yesterday.

The incident occurred around 4:30 pm. He was swept away approximately 200 metres, sustaining fatal head injuries, and was found dead at the scene.

ADC Kaza, Rahul Jain stated that the body was recovered today from the water stream and has been transported to the CHC, Kaza, for post-mortem examination. “After autopsy, the body will be handed over to the family of the deceased,” the ADC said.
