Former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today said that the ‘Jan Manch’ was not a ‘picnic’ programme, as Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Awasthi had alleged, but was a platform designed to address public grievances and provide on-the-spot solutions.

Thakur, in a press statement issued here, said that under the BJP’s leadership, the ‘Jan Manch’ was a sincere effort to resolve the issues of common people on their doorsteps and was not a casual event for political leisure. He added that during the programme, numerous local issues were addressed, providing tangible solutions to people. However, the Congress government discontinued this popular initiative, leaving citizens without a direct platform to voice their concerns, he claimed.

The Leader of the Opposition accused the Congress government of indifference and alleged that it had no time or willpower to resolve people’s problems. “We listened to grievances and resolved most of them through the ‘Jan Manch’. This was a unique programme that successfully bridged the gap between citizens and the government,” he added.

Thakur alleged that there was corruption and widespread irregularities in various state departments, particularly in the industries and power departments. He questioned the sudden, unexplained leave taken by the Baddi SP and said that his party would soon reveal the details of the alleged corrupt practices, which were bound to cause embarrassment to the government.
