On the occasion, the prison administration appraised the inmates of the historical, cultural and religious significance of the festival. The inmates were told that since ancient times, Holi had been regarded as a symbol of the end of evil and the triumph of good. The mythological story of Hiranyakashyap and Prahlad was shared with them, illustrating how devotion, truth and faith in God could help individuals overcome life’s difficulties. Additionally, the tales of Lord Krishna were presented, showing that this festival of colours symbolised love, joy and celebration.

The Director-General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Himachal Pradesh, Sanjeev Ranjan Ojha, said, “Such events in prisons not only reduce the mental stress of inmates but also inspire them to reflect on themselves and reintegrate into society. These cultural programmes play a significant role in the personal development of inmates and guide them toward a new path,” he said. Ojha said the primary purpose of organising this festival in prisons was to channel positive energy into the inmates, strengthen their human values and improve their social and mental well-being.
