A three-day sports and cultural festival, organised by the district administration in collaboration with Department of Toursim, Jal Tarang Josh Mahotsav, concluded with a cultural evening at Luhanu Ground in Bilaspur on Sunday.

RS Bali, Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Corporation, was the chief guest at the concluding function. He awarded achievers for their victory in various disciplines. Speaking on the occasion, Bali said the festival had emerged as one of the finest celebrations in the state and will play a significant role in strengthening tourism in the region. He added that the state’s festivals and cultural events were an integral part of its rich heritage and under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, initiatives were being taken to promote them with renewable energy.

Bali also paid tribute to Wing Commander Namansh Syal, who recently lost his life at the Dubai Air Show. A two-minute silence was observed across the venue in his honour. Bali stated that Wing Commander Syal had brought immense pride to the nation on the global stage.

The chairman also released a souvenir published by the district administration to commemorate the memories of the festival.

Former MLA Bamber Thakur, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar, Superintendent of Police Sandeep Dhawal, Fisheries Director Vivek Chandel, Additional Deputy Commissioner Om Kant Thakur, SDM (Sadar) Dr Rajdeep Singh, Assistant Commissioner Raj Kumar, senior officials from various departments and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
