Minister for Transport, Industries, Labour and Employment Bikram Thakur presided over the district-level Independence Day function at Nahan in Sirmaur district, where he took salute of an impressive parade at the historic Chowgan Ground.

He elaborated upon various developmental initiates of the state government, including Jan Manch which he said had helped in speedy disposal of people’s grievances.

He said many complaints had been received on the CM’s helpline number 1100 and a majority of those had been settled. The minister also inaugurated an exhibition of rakhis and sweets prepared by rural women on the occasion. He later gave away awards to people who had excelled in sports, education and health services during the pandemic.

He also announced developmental works worth Rs 8 crore for the Kala Amb industrial area.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
