The JBT Student Association of Himachal today organized a protest at Dharamsala demanding that they should not be equated with B.Ed candidates for recruitment as primary teachers.

The JBT students, who raised slogans against the government, alleged that the Himachal government was forcing the B.Ed and JBT students to take similar test for recruitment as teachers in primary schools.

Their grouse

  • JBT teachers said the basic qualification for doing JBT course was 10 2 whereas for doing B.Ed course the basic qualification was graduation.
  • Still the JBT students are being forced to undergo similar examination along with B.Ed students which puts them at a disadvantage.

They said that the basic qualification for doing JBT course was 10 2 whereas for doing B.Ed course the basic qualification was graduation. Still the JBT students are being forced to undergo similar examination along with B.Ed students which puts them at a disadvantage.

The students said that the JBT course qualified candidates to teach students of primary classes up to class V. They were earlier recruited batch wise in Himachal. However, now the government was forcing the JBT course qualified teachers to compete with B.Ed degree holders for recruitment against the posts of teachers which was injustice with the former.

The JBT students said that many states like Delhi, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh were giving preference to JBT qualified teachers for posts of primary school teachers. The Himachal government should also give preference to JBT qualified teachers against posts of primary school teachers over B.Ed degree holders.
