UNA, NOVEMBER 15
A month-long campaign against the use of drugs was launched in Una district today. Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar was the chief guest at an awareness programme organised at the government ITI in the city.
Sandeep Kumar said it was the duty of all members of society to contribute in the fight against drug abuse, which was gradually firming up its grip among children. He said children and youth should get associated with Fit India and Skill India campaigns so as to keep away from social evils like drugs, which spoil their career.
Ayurvedic officer Dr Kiran Sharma spoke about meditation to keep fit, while Indu Bala, in-charge of the Women police station at Una, and District Attorney Bheesham Chand spoke about the legal aspects of drug abuse and drug trafficking. A cultural troupe of the Information and Public Relations department presented a skit, delivering message against drug abuse.
Earlier, the DC flagged off a Prabhat Feri at 6 am from the Una municipal park in which youth and school children besides local citizens participated. The participants walked through the city, raising slogans against drug abuse.
