Jwalaji girl wins gold medal at World Boxing Championship in USA

Vanshika Goswamy of Jwalaji has brought laurels to the state and the country by clinching the gold medal at the Under-19 World Boxing Championship held in the USA. A student of first year in Jwalaji College, Vanshika defeated her German opponent in the finals. Registering a comprehensive win, she said, “I am thrilled to represent my country and bring glory to my state.”

This talented boxer’s impressive victory in the 80-kg weight category has earned accolades and recognition for the entire state. She is accompanied by her coach Amanpreet from National Boxing Academy (NBA), Rohtak. 18-year-old Vanshika’s achievement is yet to be recognised by the state government.

Vanshika, a brown belt in martial arts, was fond of judo and karate during her school days but on her father’s advice, she chose boxing.

Her father Shashikant, who is a former national player of volleyball, while talking to The Tribune, said, “It is undoubtedly a historic moment. Games not only keep a person fit it, but keep drugs and other vices at bay.”
