In order to obtain accessibility with nearby gram panchayat, the residents of Kalru village of Pragor gram panchayat in Rait development block of the Shahpur assembly constituency in Kangra district have sought relocation of their panchayat ward in Spail gram panchayat of Nagrota Surian development block.

They pleaded that their panchayat was around 15 km from the Pragor panchayat office which was inaccessible to them for routine works. They demanded their ward be relocated in nearby Spail panchayat in Nagrota Surian development block in the neighbouring Jawali Assembly constituency as this panchayat was just 500 metre from their village.

A member of the village ward Karnail Singh also raised this issue at the meeting of Pragor panchayat on October 11. The meeting was chaired by panchayat chief Hem Raj. The whole panchayat passed a unanimous resolution justifying the long-standing public demand of the Kalru ward. The panchayat recommended relocation of this ward to Spail gram panchayat and appealed to the Block Development Officer, Rait, for follow up action in this connection.
