The Taxes and Excise Department has secured a hike of 10.10 per cent in the auction of the Kandwal toll unit, comprising 11 toll barriers, in Nurpur excise revenue district. The interstate 11 toll barriers of the Kandwal toll unit were auctioned for Rs 16.03 crore, which was 2.42 per cent more than the reserved price (Rs 15.65 crore) announced by the department. The unit was auctioned in the second attempt when only two toll contractors — Devbhoomi Toll and Mahadev Toll —participated in the tendering process.
