The minister was welcomed with a traditional Himachali cap and shawl before inaugurating the facilities. Among the guests of honour were Dr Rajiv Bhardwaj, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Kangra; Indu Bala Goswami, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha); Pawan Kumar Kajal, MLA Kangra; and Tanu Kashyap, IAS, Director General of NIFT. Senior officials from the local administration and notable figures from the region also attended.

During an interactive session with students, the minister posed insightful questions on the essence of fashion, the challenges faced by the industry and India’s position in the global fashion landscape. Students responded with enthusiasm, reflecting their awareness, creativity and ambition. Singh encouraged Himachali youth to consider careers in fashion and urged faculty members to promote entrepreneurship and innovation, emphasising the need for multi-dimensional education.

The dignitaries also toured the NIFT Kangra campus, exploring its infrastructure, reviewing student projects and learning about ongoing initiatives. On the main stage, a series of speeches followed the tour. Tanu Kashyap warmly welcomed attendees, followed by remarks from Dr Rajiv Bhardwaj, Indu Bala Goswami and Pawan Kumar Kajal.
