In a major success in its ongoing campaign against drug trafficking, the Kangra district police have seized property worth Rs 1.27 crore belonging to Sanjay Kumar, alias ‘Chappan’, a drug smuggler from Rakkad village near Dharamsala.

The competent authority of the Centre has confirmed the property freezing order passed earlier by the Dharamsala police, under the provisions of the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act, 1976.

Providing details, Kangra Superintendent of Police (SP) Shalini Agnihotri said on April 6, Sanjay Kumar and his associate Suman Kumari, alias Varsha, daughter of Pratap Chand, were arrested after being caught with 1.246 kg of charas. An FIR was registered at Dharamsala Police Station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
