Rakesh Kanwar, Secretary, Education, has been appointed Secretary to the Chief Minister with immediate effect. He has been given the additional charge of the post, which had fallen vacant after Bharat Khera went on the Central deputation.

Meanwhile, in a big development in the police department, the state government has appointed Atul Verma, the 1991-batch IPS officer, as DG, CID, relieving Satwant Atwal of this additional charge. Atwal will continue to hold the post of ADG, State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau.
