A disturbing case of violence against a woman has emerged from the lower Karsog Panchayat in Mandi district, where a man — already married with five children — allegedly brought another woman into his home under suspicious circumstances and subjected her to severe abuse.

According to reports, the accused, a resident of Lower Karsog, brought the woman from the Hamirpur area two months ago. The woman’s condition speaks volumes about the horrific treatment she endured. Local women, alarmed by her situation, bravely brought the matter to light.

The victim reportedly suffered multiple deep wounds from physical assaults, including an attack with a sharp sickle. A chilling video circulating on social media shows visible injuries across her body and her leg chained with a lock — though the police later managed to free her with ease.

The Karsog police have registered an FIR, and the woman has been taken to hospital for medical examination.

According to Harisharan Bhatia, the pradhan of lower Karsog Panchayat, the accused and his family are registered in the local panchayat records, while the abused woman is not. Her presence in the area was unofficial and undocumented.

Mandi Superintendent of Police Sakshi Verma said a thorough investigation was underway and justice would be ensured for the victim.

The case has sparked outrage across the region, with calls for swift legal action and stronger protection for vulnerable women.
