Khali accuses Paonta Sahib revenue officials of attempt to grab land; Tehsildar rejects charge

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dalip Singh Rana, popularly known as The Great Khali, met Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Verma on Friday and alleged that some revenue officials in Paonta Sahib, allegedly working in collusion with local property dealers, were attempting to forcibly occupy his land. Khali, originally from Dhiraina village in Ronhat sub-tehsil of Sirmaur, submitted a written complaint, seeking the Deputy Commissioner’s immediate intervention.

Khali stated that the land in question was legally registered in the name of a woman in 2005 and they gained its ownership from her following the due legal process. In 2013, his father Jwala Ram lawfully purchased this land from the woman and since then his family had the ownership of the property. He alleged that despite these records, the Tehsildar, Kanungo and the Patwari of Paonta Sahib were now “misusing their official positions” and attempting to forcibly take over the land in connivance with property dealers.

According to him, the officials concerned were allegedly trying to intimidate his family using police pressure and were facilitating what he termed as a “fake registry and wrongful mutation” of the property. Khali said that the Deputy Commissioner assured him of a fair and immediate inquiry into the matter.

Meanwhile, Tehsildar, Paonta Sahib, Rishabh Sharma rejected all allegations levelled against the revenue officials. He said that a dispute over the same land was pending in the court of the Naib Tehsildar and for the past 50 days, Khali had allegedly not complied with repeated requests to apply for the demarcation of the disputed land.

Sharma claimed that Khali himself was at present in the illegal possession of land belonging to someone else. He added that a defamation case would be filed against Khali for making unfounded accusations.
