The ‘Sansad Khel Mahakumbh’ would be held from December 8 this year and registration for the month-long event would start from November 22. This was stated by Narender Attri, coordinator of the sports event initiated by Anurag Thakur, Minister for Sports and Information and Broadcasting, here today.

The winners of the competition would share prizes worth over Rs 50 lakh this year. Apart from the five major games, including volleyball, football, kabbadi, basketball and cricket, some disciplines of athletics would also be included in the event. The last date for registration would be December 3 and the event would be organised in a phased manner. In the first phase, championships would be organised at the constituency level while in the second, teams would meet at the district level. The parliamentary constituency-level tournament would be organised in Hamirpur.

Attri said winners of the cricket championship would be awarded Rs 1 lakh while runners-up would get a prize of Rs 50,000. The winners of other games would be awarded Rs 51,000 and runners-up Rs 31,000. The teams from Hamirpur parliamentary constituency would also participate in the championship, which would include 17 Assembly constituencies spread over five districts, including Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una, Mandi and Kangra.
