The DSP said that as per the statement of deceased’s wife, Dipawali Ganguly, Rohan, along with 12 others, had arrived in Manali from Kolkata in their private vehicle on September 7.

“On September 10, the group began a trek from Jowra to Hamta Pass. After setting up camp at Chhika, Rohan complained of severe abdominal pain and chest discomfort. Despite receiving initial treatment and advice from fellow trekkers to seek medical help, Rohan’s condition worsened. He was transported to a hospital but was declared dead upon arrival,” said the DSP.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Rohan’s death was due to the adverse effects of high altitude and environmental changes. There is no suspicion of foul play, he added.
