Kullu man detained for sharing pro-Pakistan posts on social media
The Kullu police have detained a man for allegedly posting pro-Pakistan and anti-national content on social media. The accused, Mohammad Farooq, originally from Kashmir, has been residing in Kullu for several years. He is married to a local woman and runs a dry fruit shop at Bashing, around 5 km from the district headquarters.
He was detained after the Devbhoomi Jagran Manch, a local association, raised concerns and alerted the district authorities about the posts. The association urged the police to take strict legal action against Farooq.
Yashpal Sharma, general secretary of the association, stated that the state government should act decisively against individuals who promote anti-national sentiments. He added that the police should crack down on any narrative that seeks to undermine the Indian Army and the government.
According to sources, Farooq was posting pro-Pakistan content through his social media accounts for the past several days. After coming to know about Farooq’s activities, members of the Devbhoomi Jagran Manch informed the police, which promptly rounded him up for questioning.
Sharma alleged that Farooq had shared videos supporting Pakistan, which were detrimental to national unity and integrity. He urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation and initiate legal proceedings against him.
Local residents, including Bhupender Kumar and Rajneesh Thakur, expressed concern over such incidents.
Meanwhile, Additional SP, Kullu, Sanjeev Kumar said that a case had been registered and Farooq was being questioned in the case.
