Kunhoo declared 1st tobacco-free village of Mandi’s Karsog block

Kunhoo in Bagaila gram panchayat of Karsog development block in Mandi district has been officially declared the first tobacco-free village under the ongoing Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 3.0 of the state government.

According to Block Medical Officer (BMO), Karsog, Dr. Gopal Chauhan, the village scored 149 out of 160 points, as per the tobacco-control assessment guidelines issued by the state government. Gram panchayat pradhan Khushi Ram, female health worker Kala Devi and the assessment team led by the Medical Officer in-charge of the Karsog Hospital jointly confirmed the evaluation.

After detailed assessment, both Block Medical Officer (BMO) and Block Development Officer (BDO) signed the certificate jointly, officially declaring Kunhoo as a tobacco-free village, making it the first in Karsog block to receive this recognition.

Dr Chauhan congratulated the Bagaila panchayat pradhan and the residents of Kunhoo village for this achievement. He said that eliminating social evils such as substance abuse required collective participation of the community. He urged the villagers to remain vigilant and continue to maintaining the tobacco-free status of Kunhoo village. He added that Kunhoo was on its way to becoming an exemplary model village in the near future.
