The police swung into action after receiving a complaint on November 16 from Pawan Kumar that he had parked two vehicles containing empty and filled LPG cylinders near his store on the Kather bypass on November 14. He, however, found 18 filled and 32 empty cylinders missing from the two vehicles when he came to his store the next day.

The police registered a case of theft under Section 305 of the IPC on November 15 and initiated a probe. They examined the footage of CCTV cameras installed at and around Pawan''s store and scanned various technical evidences to zero in on a pick-up vehicle plying without any registration number.

The said vehicle was traced near the toll plaza at Chandimandir. While probing the case, the police identified Gurjant Singh, a resident of Lalru, as the accused. He was arrested and brought to Solan last evening and produced before a local court, said SP, Solan, Gaurav Singh.
