Landslides in Solan: 68 roads closed, power and water supply disrupted

With the Met department warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall on Monday, the district magistrate ordered the closure of all educational institutions with the staff directed to take online classes from home.
23 roads were closed in Solan sub division, followed by 21 in Kasauli, 16 in Arki and 8 in Nalagarh. Labour and machinery has been deputed by the Public Works Department to clear the roads even as there was no let-up in the rain.
Power supply suffered major disruptions throughout the district as 899 power distribution transformers were disrupted with the 433 transformers out of order in Kasauli sub division as uprooted trees fell on the power poles.
Additionally, 226 transformers developed a snag in Baddi sub division while in 122 in Arki and 118 in Nalagarh were out of order, leading to power outages after midnight.
Water supply was also hit in several areas of Solan and Kasauli while seven water supply schemes suffered losses in Baddi and Nalagarh.
