Leopard found dead in Baddi's school compound

A committee would also be constituted after the autopsy for safe cremation of the animal

A two-and-a-half years old leopard was found dead inside the compound of St Luke’s School at Baddi on Thursday morning.

According to officials, a forest department team reached the scene after receiving information from the school employees at around 11.30 am.

“The leopard was examined and information was conveyed to the Divisional Forest Officer, Nalagarh. A doctor from the local hospital was also asked to examine the animal,” said Baddi Block Forest Officer Kartar Singh Negi.

The officer also ruled out any foul play in the death.

The body was sent for postmortem to ascertain the cause of the death.

A committee, comprising a police official, panchayat head, a veterinary and a forest officer, would be constituted after the autopsy to ensure safe cremation of the animal.
