Eleven cattle were killed after lightning struck at Kilod panchayat in Kihar area of Salooni subdivision, Chamba district. A 21-year-old girl was also injured in the incident and has been referred to Chamba Medical College after receiving primary treatment. Her condition is now reported to be stable.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at Athwari in Kilod panchayat. The region had been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past two days. Athwari is a grazing area where locals take their cattle to feed.

According to reports, Pawan, a resident of Jakhral village, lost seven sheep, one cow and one bull in the lightning strike. Mukesh Kumar, also from Jakhral, lost two bulls on the spot.

During the incident, Pawan Kumar’s 21-year-old daughter, Bharti Rana, also suffered a mild electric shock, which left one of her arms temporarily numb. Both families were present at the site along with their cattle when the lightning struck. Fortunately, all other people were reported safe.
