The district Food and Civil Supplies Department has directed all consumers of the public distribution system to link their Aadhaar cards with ration cards. This will help identify all beneficiaries and ensure the reach of all schemes and programmes of the department to each one of them.

Departmental sources said the beneficiaries can download ‘E-KYC PDS HP” application from Google play store on their mobile phones and upload the ration card number, Aadhaar number and complete the EKYC after face verification. Further that ration cards of beneficiaries who do not get the EKYC done, will be temporarily suspended.

Alternately, consumers can visit the nearest fair price shop or Lok Mitra Kendra for the EKYC using their biometrics.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
