Live grenade found in Chakki rivulet in Nurpur, defused

A live hand grenade was found in the Chakki rivulet in Khanni gram panchayat in Nurpur this afternoon. The locals first spotted this grenade and informed local police. A police team rushed to the spot to round up the live grenade with sand-filled gunny bags as precautionary protocol. They further intimated army authorities at Yol Cantonment (Dharamsala)

DSP Nurpur Vishal Verma said a bomb disposal team reached the spot. After examining the grenade, they disposed it of successfully. He advised the local residents not to panic as the live grenade was very old and disposed of. He said the police had no technical details of the grenade disposed of by the Army team.
