A Mahila Sammelan is set be organised at the Old Bazaar Ramleela ground at Karsog in Mandi on February 14, according to Block Development Officer (Karsog) Vaishali Sharma. The event is set to be presided over by Mandi MP Pratibha Singh.

Medical check-ups

On this occasion, various departments will set up stalls and provide information to the people about various welfare schemes being run by the state government. A team of gynaecologists, alongside medical professionals from other departments, from the Medical College, Ner Chowk, will conduct health check-ups at the camp. — Vaishali Sharma, BDO (Karsog)

The BDO met with officials concerned on Monday in this regard. She reviewed the preparations for the event and issued guidelines to the officers to ensure the success of this event.

Sharma said about 1,000 women of the area would participate in the Sammelan.

Women associated with about 300 Mahila Mandals under development blocks Karsog and Churag of the Sub-Division will take part in the event. Asha workers and Anganwadi workers of the area are also said to attend the programme.

“On this occasion, various departments will set up stalls and provide information to the people about various welfare schemes being run by the state government. A special women’s health check-up camp will be organised on this occasion. A team of gynaecologists, alongside medical professionals from other departments, from the Medical College, Ner Chowk, will conduct health check-ups at the camp,” Sharma said, adding that experts from other fields — including agriculture and horticulture — would provide information related to their respective fields to the people present at the Sammelan.
